Berberis 'Tiny Gold'

Berberis 'Tiny Gold'

Tiny Gold Berberis is an excellent garden shrub for providing colour and texture interest to beds, borders, and patio pots. Also known as Japanese Barberry, this Tiny Gold variety is well named, reaching an ultimate height and spread of just 50cm. Young foliage emerges golden-yellow in spring and is decorated with clusters of pale-yellow single flowers from April to May. The leaves change colour throughout the season, turning lime green in summer then a dramatic shade of red as the berries emerge from late summer into autumn.

This hardy shrub is easy to grow and demands very little maintenance to look its best. Water thoroughly after planting and once a week until well-established, after which Berberis only need to be watered during particularly dry spells. Lightly prune after flowering to tidy the shrub and maintain its size and shape.

Berberis plants are bursting with nectar and pollen, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators into the garden. They are versatile garden plants, suitable for adding height and texture to beds and borders or for planting as feature plants in pots and containers. They are also ideal for using as hedging or screening plants.

Please Note: Images are for illustrative purposes only and designed to be a representation of the item(s) being sold. Depending on seasonality, deciduous plants may be supplied in their dormant state and without leaves. Plants may also be pruned back, lower than stated heights, to encourage new growth.
