The Prunus avium ‘Sunburst’ is a mid-season cherry tree is a self-fertile fruit tree that produces a heavy crop of very dark cherries in the mid-Summer along with showy white flowers in Spring. These high-quality fruits can also be stored for a short period of time after picking.
The fruits of the Prunus avium ‘Sunburst’ are juicy, firm and fragrant and are delicious when eaten fresh. In the Autumn, the once white flowers turn orange and yellow for Autumn before they fall.
The Sunburst can be grown as a large tree or it can be trained in a shape of a fan against a wall to optimise the warmth and shelter of the cherries.
Cherry trees have showy flowers in Spring and often good Autumnal foliage. Edible fruit also accommodates the branches in the later Summer early Autumn months.
