Chives Garlic

Chives Garlic (often known as Chinese Chives) are a delicious culinary herb cultivated primarily for the mild, savoury garlic flavour found in their flat, strap-like leaves. This distinct taste, which is richer and more complex than common onion chives, is released when the leaves are chopped or snipped. They are traditionally used as a staple in Asian cuisine, adding a gentle garlic kick to stir-fries, dumplings, and cream cheese without the harsh bite of raw garlic cloves.

This plant is typically grown as a clump-forming hardy perennial that produces beautiful sprays of star-shaped white flowers in late summer. It is robust and cold-tolerant, dying back to the ground in winter and returning reliably in spring. For the best results and the most vigorous growth, plant it in a location with full sun, though it will also manage in partial shade. It is not drought-tolerant and thrives in fertile, well-drained soil that is kept consistently moist through regular watering.
