Coriander Vietnamese
Vietnamese Coriander, often known as Rau Răm, is a vigorous herb cultivated primarily for the intense, spicy aroma found in its pointed, dark-marked leaves. This potent flavour, which resembles fresh coriander but with a hotter, peppery kick and zesty lemony undertones, is released instantly when the foliage is eaten raw or added to hot dishes. It is traditionally used as a defining ingredient in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in laksa soups, summer rolls, and spicy salads, where it holds its flavour far better than standard coriander when cooked.
This plant is typically grown as a tender, low-spreading ground cover that thrives in warm, damp conditions, making it an excellent candidate for pots or boggy areas of the garden. It is highly susceptible to cold and must be brought indoors or protected from frost to survive winter. For the best results and lushest growth, plant it in a location with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorching. It is absolutely not drought-tolerant and must have fertile, moisture-retentive soil that is kept consistently wet through heavy and regular watering.
Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
