Lavender 'Grosso'

Lavender 'Grosso'

Lavender 'Grosso' is a high-yielding hybrid cultivated primarily for the exceptionally strong fragrance found in its large, fat purple flower spikes. This intense, camphor-like scent is much more potent than many English lavenders and is released powerfully when the flowers are dried or pressed for oil. It is traditionally used for making potpourri, scent sachets, and essential oils, though it can also be used sparingly in baking or to flavour sugar, provided the strong, piney notes are balanced carefully.

This plant is typically grown as a large, vigorous, hardy evergreen shrub that forms a classic rounded mound of silvery-grey foliage. It is robust and generally cold-tolerant, though it dislikes wet feet in winter. For the best results and the highest oil content, plant it in a location with full, baking sun. It is highly drought-tolerant once established and thrives in poor, gritty, or rocky soil, as it will struggle and become woody quickly in damp, fertile conditions.

Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only - The plant will be supplied in a growers pot.
