Physocarpus 'Dart's Gold'

Physocarpus 'Dart's Gold'

“Dart’s Gold” is a hardy, deciduous plant that will brighten up the colour scheme in your garden. The three-lobed, ovate leaves are fantastic colour additions to your garden and landscaping. The brilliant chartreuse or bright-green coloured foliage will light up your garden.

White to pink flowers with reddish centres form on rounded corymbs in May and June. These flowers add a gentle scent to the air. After the flowering, small, gently drooping clusters of reddish fruit form and decorate the plant.

During the winter months, its appealing papery bark comes into view as the leaves have autumnen away. In addition, it tolerates full sun as well as partial shade.

As it is thicket-forming, pruning is suggested after flowering. If the plant becomes out of shape, stalks can be trimmed back to the base and reset with a total pruning down to about a foot in height above the ground.

Make this decorative Ninebark part of your informal woodland or cottage setting. Or put it in groups to use as a shrub border or as a backdrop of your flower bed.
