Pittosporum 'Oliver Twist' Set

Pittosporum 'Oliver Twist' Set

This mix of 3 Pittosporum are compact and upright evergreen bushes, originating from the coastal regions of New Zealand. They are also known as New Zealand Pittosporum, Kohuhu, Tawhiwhi or Black Matipo (in native language). Oliver Twist is an excellent hedging variety that is maintained as a formal hedge with basic pruning. It is an easy to grow bushy shrub which if left unclipped will grow as tall as 3 metres.

There are over 200 varieties of Pittosporum, varying in height from dwarf ones to small sized trees. Oliver Twist features small beautiful and glossy grey-green leaves. This foliage with hints of silver looks very decorative when set against the dark stems. Light breeze will cause the leaves to shimmer, thus producing a glossy display in gardens.

Oliver Twist blooms bell-shaped dark maroon flowers in spring, that are also honey scented. Although these flowers are insignificant in size and appearance, but still their fragrance can be experienced strongly at night.

Provide an average soil that is well-drained, mixed with organic compost for the young plants. Oliver Twist thrives in full sun to partial shade and will also sustain growth in windy spots.

Prune them annually to maintain a neat and tidy shape, or else they will develop more open growth habit. Oliver Twist shrubs need moderate watering until they establish. These ornamental plants carry year-round interest. They are easy to care and are frost hardy as well.

Pittosporum Oliver Twist are perfect for hedges and screens. These are easy to grow shrubs for difficult corners of a garden. Use them as a low maintenance wall-side in urban garden or cottage gardens.
