Potentilla 'Marian Red Robin'

Potentilla 'Marian Red Robin'

“Red Robin” is a compact deciduous shrub with a bushy growth habit. It has small, dark-green pinnate leaves. Each leaf is approximately 3 cm in length. The leaves begin their growth in springtime as a medium green, will darken in summer and turn yellow to brown in autumn.

Flowers are saucer-shaped, and the thin petals are of an orange-red colour. Each flower is approximately 2 to 3 cm in diameter.

Although it enjoys the shade, it can tolerate the sun. But, full sun will decrease the length of life for the individual flowers. The best combination for flowering includes partial sun with well-draining soils.

Prune lightly at the end of the season or at the onset of spring. This plant does well in most soil types, as long as the soil remains moist. Although it is deciduous, it is full hardy and can withstand most temperatures in Europe.

As it is a more compact shrub, it grows well in flower beds and as accents in shrub borders or in city garden spaces in a container or sheltered, but partially sunny locations.
