Ribes 'King Edward VII'

Ribes Sanguineum or call it the ‘King Edward VII’ Flowering Currant, is a colourful deciduous flowering shrub, popular for its deep-red or crimson flowers that grow in clusters. This is one of the most vivid Ribes plants, excellent as a hedge since they can grow as tall as 6 feet in height.

These spring flowering compact-upright shrubs flower early and are easy to maintain. In the spring months of March - April, one can gaze upon the pendulous clusters of crimson red flowers that are irresistible to the bees! This brilliance of their flowers is supported with lobed, aromatic leaves.

King Edward VII Ribes will thrive in full sun planted in a sheltered spot. A moist, well-drained soil that is rich is humus will suit the growth of the roots. Once the root system is established, these shrubs become drought tolerant in cool summers.
