Rocket Wild

Wild Rocket is a vibrant salad herb cultivated primarily for the intense, spicy kick found in its deeply serrated, dark green leaves. This potent heat, which is significantly punchier and more complex than standard salad rocket, is released immediately when the leaves are eaten. It is traditionally used to add zest to salads, pizzas, and sandwiches, providing a peppery contrast that cuts through rich ingredients like creamy cheeses and cured meats.

This plant is typically grown as a hardy perennial that forms a bushy rosette of foliage and self-seeds freely. It is robust and cold-tolerant, often capable of providing fresh leaves throughout the winter in sheltered spots. For the best results and a continuous supply of tender leaves, plant it in a location with full sun or partial shade. It is moderately drought-tolerant but thrives in fertile soil that is kept consistently moist to prevent the leaves from becoming tough and overly spicy.
