Grape 'Merlot'

Grape 'Merlot'

Grape Merlot is one of the best-known and most popular claret varieties. It originates from France and is usually grown as wine grape. However, the fruit can also be enjoyed fresh from the vine and can be sweetened to make desserts and soft drinks.

As a late-ripening cultivar, Grape Merlot thrives outdoors in milder parts of the country. In other areas it is ideal for growing under the cover of a greenhouse or polytunnel, where temperatures are better suited to late harvesting.

Grape Merlot is relatively low-maintenance and easy to look after. It flourishes in a sheltered, sunny spot in well-drained soil and benefits from canes or other supports to climb up.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
